Privacy Policy

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your information. Leapsake runs on your device, with no server involved and nothing to opt out of.

What we collect

Nothing. Leapsake contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no trackers. It sends nothing to us. The only time it contacts anyone else is when you paste a gift link, below.

Where your information lives

Everything you enter is stored in a database on your device and nowhere else. We cannot see it, we cannot retrieve it, and we hold no copy of it.

If you create an account in Leapsake, it is created on your device only. It sets a password that encrypts your data where it sits. It is not registered with us, and nothing about it is sent anywhere.

Delete the app, or erase your data from within it, and it is gone. Because we never had a copy, there is nothing to ask us to delete.

Permissions the app asks for

• Contacts — only if you choose to import them. The contacts you import are copied into Leapsake’s own database on your device; nothing is uploaded. If you never use the import, Leapsake never reads your contacts.
• Notifications — only if you allow them, so reminders can reach you. Your device schedules them itself. There are no push notifications and nothing passes through a server.

Links that leave the app

Tapping a phone number, an email address, or a website hands it to your phone’s own app for that thing. What happens next is covered by that app’s privacy policy and your carrier’s, not by this one.

When you paste a link to a gift, Leapsake fetches that page and its picture directly from the shop’s site, to fill in the gift’s name. The request goes from your phone to that site alone; nothing passes through us, and the site sees what any browser visit would show it.

Password managers

If you save your Leapsake password in a password manager, it is filed under leapsake.com. To allow that, your phone checks that the app and the website belong together by reading a small public file that names the app. It contains nothing about you.

On an iPhone, the file is fetched from Apple’s servers when the app is installed or updated, not from ours. On Android, your password manager does the check when you use it: Google’s does it through Google, and others may fetch the file from leapsake.com, which sees what any visit to the website would show it.
